Millie Bobby Brown carries a lackluster and underwhelming plot in a film that is remarkably visually bland despite its attempt at a wide aesthetic breadth. The meta elements felt tired and over-used (as well as mis-used), further taking away from moments that already felt so carelessly crafted. Henry Cavill is fantastic, offering a more subdued Sherlock than we are used to while still generating a powerful presence on-screen. Better audio-visual design + Millie as Enola + Henry as Sherlock + a great script would make a great film, but this is just vapid.
5/10 – Mediocre
